Bliss Edwards is about to graduate from college and still has hers. Sick of being the only virgin among her friends, she decides the best way to deal with the problem is to lose it as quickly and simply as possible– a one-night stand. But her plan turns out to be anything but simple when she freaks out and leaves a gorgeous guy alone and naked in her bed with an excuse that no one with half-a-brain would ever believe. And as if that weren’t embarrassing enough, when she arrives for her first class of her last college semester, she recognizes her new theatre professor. She’d left him naked in her bed about 8 hours earlier.
I loved this book.
from the title and a brief brush over the blurb i figured that this book would go one of two ways.
1. it would be an overly preachy piece of “your virginity is something to treasure” probably religious crap. (no one want’s to be lectured when reading for pleasure)
2. it would basically be about nothing but sex, sex and more sex.
now while neither would of been terrific i was curious enough to try it (while secretly hoping it would not be option 1)
it turned out to in fact be a beautiful love story with a main character who is hilarious and i connected with immediately. the romantic interest was not the bad boy player that i was expecting but a perfectly charming Romeo that i could see myself falling for just as quickly as Bliss. the chemistry between the two of them was explosive but was balanced nicely with enough emotion to ensure it was not just lust.
and here is where we come to the part of the review where i am torn and am going to contradict myself. i loved how the story was just a simple Romance without all the beware stories used to cause drama in most NA books (i was 90% certain that Bliss would get pregnant sometime in this book) but i did however find it somewhat lacking in drama. *SPOILER* Kelsey never finds out she lied, nor is there any drama when she catches him in her bed, and they are never caught (or really even come close) by anyone who matters *END SPOILER* that being said i can’t wait to get my hands on another book by the wonderful Miss Carmack
“Are you waiting for an invitation?” I asked, eyeing him standing carefully outside my door. “Is this the part where you tell me you’re a vampire?” He chuckled. “No, I promise the paleness is only because I’m British.”
“I am in love with this burrito. I would marry it if I didn’t want to eat it so badly.”
“The tragedy of true love,” Cade whispered.”
“Honey, right now you look like someone’s adorable little sister. No guy wants to screw his little sister. And if he does, you don’t want to be near him.”
